New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit areas affected by an oil spill in the Saronic Gulf on Thursday afternoon.
Mitsotakis will visit the suburbs of Faliro, Alimos and Glyfada on Athens’ southern coast to witness the extent of the ecological disaster, which has spread from Salamina and the suburbs of Piraeus to the southern Attica coastline.
According to sources, on Thursday ND will submit a question in parliament addressed to Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis.
On Wednesday Mitsotakis in a post on Twitter accused the government of indifference.
The oil spill was caused by the sinking of the small tanker “Agia Zoni II” anchored southwest of Atalanti on Sunday, while carrying some 2,200 tonnes of petroleum fuels.
