Main opposition New Democracy (ND) spokesperson Maria Spyraki called on the government on Wednesday to submit a single proposal on the FYROM name issue.
In an interview with Real FM, Spyraki said that the single proposal is a prerequisite for the public debate to continue.
“We cannot support the government if the coalition partners have different positions,” she said and called on the government to assume its responsibilities.
She reiterated New Democracy’s position as expressed in Bucharest in 2008: a compound name with a geographical definition for all uses.
Αsked whether New Democracy will seek cooperation with the Movement for Change provided that it wins the next elections, she said: New Democracy will be the backbone of the next government, it will be close to self-reliance, but in any case, it will seek broader consensus.
As for the elections, she estimated the sooner, the better.
