ND spokesperson Spyraki criticises government handling in case of two soldiers held in Turkey

Main opposition New Democracy spokesperson Maria Spyraki on Monday harshly criticised the government over the issue of the two Greek soldiers held in Turkey.

“The two Greek soldiers have been detained for 12 days in a Turkish jail and the government is monitoring the development without being able to intervene,” she said.

The spokesperson called on Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to make clear whether it is a border incident or the two soldiers are being held as hostages, as Defence Minister Panos Kammenos had said.

“In any case, it is the government’s responsibility to find a way for the two soldiers to return to Greece as soon as possible,” Spyraki underlined.
