Nearly 60 percent of businesses in western Greece invest in innovation, exceeding the national average, said Alternate Minister for Research Kostas Fotakis.

“Spending on research and development in western Greece in 2016 reached 1.31 percent of the area’s economic output, versus the national average of 1.01 percent,” Fotakis told a conference in Patras.

The alternate minister went on to talk about the 31 million euros being spent by the government on research and innovation projects aimed at 99 businesses in western Greece.
