New Democracy repeats its No to Tsipras’ call for live debate between the two leaders

Main opposition party New Democracy (ND) on Tuesday sent a negative reply to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ repeated call for a live televised debate between the premier and ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“Despite the fact that Mr. Tsipras has posed the question many times, he has already answered it himself,” says a ND statement, and cites Tsipras’s own words from a 2009 video in which he says, “Holding a live debate between only two parties is an entirely wrong decision, because it is offensive and derogatory to the quality of democracy in our country.”

As part of its reply, ND publicised the video with the cited clip.
