A new ferry line linking the Ionian Islands will be inaugurated in March next year, Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis said in a speech at the Regional Development Conference in Corfu on Wednesday.
The service will link Corfu, Lefkada, Cephalonia and Zakynthos.
“In March, this service will be a new reality that will break the blockade between the islands of the same region,” the minister said, adding that it will bring additional benefits to the region.
Asked about specifics on the issue, the regional governor of the Ionian Islands Thodoros Galiatsatos, who was attending the conference, said the plan is to offer three services per week with ferries that will carry 198 passengers. He said the ticket price has not been determined yet.
