New government gets vote of confidence after three-day debate on policy statements

The new government of New Democracy (ND) won a vote of confidence on Monday night with 158 votes out of a total of 300, following a three-day debate in plenary over its policy platform.

Voting in favor were all ND deputies, and voting against (142) were all opposition parties: main opposition SYRIZA, Movement for Change (KINAL), Communist Party, Greek Solution and MeRA25.

“I am convinced we shall succeed (to create) a bright Greece we all deserve,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in his wrap-up statements prior to the vote, which was held by roll call.
