A new electronic platform teaching road safety to children and providing driver’s ed to adults will be first introduced to 100 primary schools in Greece this spring, Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis said on Tuesday.
At a one-day meeting at the ministry, Spirtzis said that the platform “e-drive Academy” (e-drive.yme gov.gr) will be introduced to the rest of the primary schools at the start of the new academic year in September. The site is already up and running.
Spirtzis mentioned that a bill for the new road code to be tabled in Parliament next week will promote proper behaviour when driving, and that other regulations about road behavior will follow.
E-drive Academy provides information to different population groups – students, teachers, parents, drivers, driving teachers, and professional drivers. It includes interactive lessons, ebooks and epamphlets for all ages. In primary schools it will form the basis of a class on “Road Safety”, run in collaboration with the ministry of Education.
The platform was presented for the first time to students of the First Demotic School in Holargos.
