No sign police brutality was involved in Nigerian’s death at police station

The investigation into the death of a Nigerian man at Omonia police station on February 8 has so far found no evidence that police brutality was in any way involved, the Attica General Police Directorate said in an announcement on Saturday.

Responding to press reports, the announcement noted that a sworn administrative inquiry into the death had been launched immediately and was carefully investigating all the facts of the case.

It also cited a press release issued on February 18, which said that the investigation had found no evidence of police violence and that investigators were waiting for the results of toxicology and histology tests to determine the exact cause of death.
