Over 1,200 migrants and refugees arrived on the northern Aegean islands in October

Over 1,200 migrants and refugees arrived to the northern Aegean islands in the first 10 days of October.

There were 1,005 new arrivals recorded at the hotspots on Lesvos, Chios and Samos, while 44 new arrivals on Lesvos and 155 on Chios have been reported on Tuesday.

In the same period the Turkish coast guard announced that it has located 17 incidents involving dinghies with migrants and refugees on board that attempted to reach the Greek waters and returned 697 people back to Turkey.
