New Panageas-case in HGC – They ask for money, with judicial decision, to control OPAP

Provocative recruitment for the Hellenic Gaming Commission

The Head of the Independent Regulatory Authority HGC, Mr. Antonios Stergiotis – personal choice of the former FinMin Yanis Varoufakis, after putting the lawyer Mr. D. Panageas to the Three-member Audit Committee that controls OPAP, has progressed to one more employment, which raises serious questions of moral order.

It should be recalled that Mr. Dimitrios Panageas – personal friend of A. Stergiotis and partner of the Casino Loutraki in the past – was appointed auditor of the OPAP despite the fact that he had sued the Organisation claiming the amount of €3.5 million and the reinstatement as legal councel!

It seems that the member of the HGC Mr. Sophocles Alifierakis is in dispute with OPAP since he sued the Organisation in September 2010 claiming over € 600,000. Mr. Alifierakis had been working for OPAP from 2007 until 2010.

Furthermore, Mr. Alifierakis recently was awarded by the Greek courts with a non insignificant amount (hundreds of thousands of euros) of money relating to compensation from OPAP.

All the aforementioned lead to the following question: How can these people work impartially?
