Parliament president Voutsis optimistic over a solution to FYROM name issue

The president of the Greek parliament Nikos Voutsis, in an interview with public broadcaster ERT1 on Friday, expressed optimism over the prospects of a solution to the FYROM name issue, adding that there was now an important chance that must not be lost.

“The issue has been delayed for many years and since there is now a different correlation of political forces and views in FYROM, it is a great opportunity that should not be lost. I am optimistic,” he said.

Asked whether other sides have expressed interest in finding a solution to the name issue, Voutsis said that everyone has expressed interest, especially the European Union, NATO and the neighbouring countries.
