Pavlopoulos: Operation of special education schools a fundamental duty of the state

The establishment and operation of special education schools is a fundamental duty of the state, Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos said on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Athens special education high school for career training in the Thissio neighborhood.

He explained that the state must fulfill its educational mission, taking into account the particular circumstances under which the individual groups of students are entitled to the right to education, and added that the respect and protection of the value of human beings are the primary duties of the state.

He also referred to the principle of equality and the need for a personality’s development through the free participation in the social and the political life of the country.

The event was attended by political, religious and educational leaders.
