Petsas reiterates intention for a president who enjoys broad acceptance

Government spokesperson Stelios Petsas reiterated on Monday in an interview with SKAI TV that the prime minister’s intention is for the next president to be a person who enjoys broad acceptance.

Regarding the new electoral law, Petsas said that the threshold for a single-party majority will range between 37-38 pct, based on certain conditions.

The spokesperson also referred to taxation, noting that the social solidarity levy will be significantly reduced from the second half of 2020.

So far, the government has been focusing on reducing taxes on labour and businesses and will now follow up with a reduction of consumption taxes, he said, adding that there are no plans at present to lower the special consumption tax on fuel.
