Piraeus port car terminal traffic up 19.13 pct in 2017

Traffic in the car terminal of Piraeus port grew 19.13 pct in 2017 totaling 431,157 vehicles from 361,912 in 2016, the port authority said on Thursday.

A total of 331,832 vehicles were transhipment, up 22.07 pct from 2016, making the port of Piraeus one of the largest car cargo terminals in the Mediterranean.

“Our goals is to further increase transhipment in the car terminal through the expansion of our existing infrastructure and to upgrade services,” Captain Fu Chengqui, chairman and CEO of the Piraeus Port Authority, said during the inauguration ceremony of the car terminal’s new offices.
