PM Antonis Samaras and Government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos to meet on Friday over troika’s position on taxes

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will meet with Government Vice President and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos at 11.30 a.m. this morning to discuss Finance Minister Gika Hardouvelis’ meeting with the troika yesterday.

The representatives of Greece’s bailout leaders expressed displeasure over media reports that state government intentions to negotiate on tax relief measures.

Mr. Hardouvelis’ two hour meeting devoted considerable time to discussing delays caused by the latest court decisions on “special public payrolls” concerning uniformed personnel, judges and others as well as delays in acting on bailout memorandum commitments.

The troika is scheduled to meet tomorrow at the Finance Ministry with Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutis, Health Minister Makis Voridis and Development Minister Nikos Dendias.
