Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was given a tour of multinational pharmaceutical Boehringer Ingelheim in Koropi, SE of Athens, on Thursday.
He was welcomed at the premises by Board President and CEO Hubertus von Baumbach, and President and CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim Hellas Dimitris Anagnostakis. Von Baumbach spoke of the high-level education of the staff at Greek universities, and noted that the medicine manufactured at the premises for diabetes was exported to 80 countries in the world.
The company is investing nearly 100 million euros in Greece over 2019-2025, in addition to 80 million euros invested during the economic crisis and from 2009 to 2018. Anagnostakis said that in 2025 exports are expected to reach 1.4 billion euros.
Factory director Nikos Mazonakis said that the working environment the company offers “has driven many Greeks working abroad to return.”
Mitsotakis was accompanied by Health Minister Thanos Plevris.
