This will be the first year that the struggles and sacrifices of the Greek people brought results, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Monday in his New Year’s message.
“This is a year of hope, optimism, expectation and creativity,” he said. “This makes sense, because it it the first after 8 years when Greece is no longer in the stranglehold of loan memoranda. It is the first New Year’s day when we can say that the struggles and sacrifices of the Greek people brought results,” he added.
Contrary to prophets of doom, the country is now independent to plan its own future, placing the labourer at the centre. He added that in 2019 the battle of labour will be won and the reduction of unemployment will speed up.
