PM Tsipras: My country chose the path that allows Europe to have a future

It was an honour and a great responsibility to be in Budapest representing Greece, a country that was caught up in two major crises, the economic crisis and the refugee crisis, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Tuesday, addressing the 67th session of WHO Regional Office for Europe.

When Greece was faced with a dilemma between “dealing with the provocations with solidarity and dignity and within the context of international law or protecting our interests only, my country chose the first path, the only one that allows Europe to have a future” Tsipras said.

The only way to protect our country was to do the utmost possible to ensure that more vulnerable groups and refugees have access to healthcare, he underlined.
