PM Tsipras to Ang. Merkel: Αny involvement of NATO to curb the activity of migrant smugglers will concern Turkish territorial waters

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday spoke by phone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in order to be briefed over her recent visit to Turkey, government spokeswoman Olga Gerovassili told reporters.

According to the spokeswoman, Tsipras made clear that any involvement of NATO in patrolling the eastern Aegean in order to curb the activity of migrant smugglers will concern Turkish territorial waters, and should by no means affect Greece’s sovereign rights.

She also said the issue of joint patrols in the Aegean has not been raised.
