PM’s office says U.S. ambassador Pyatt never made Novartis comment

The Prime Minister’s office rejected on Monday claims by New Democracy that in a meeting with party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis earlier in the day, U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt said there is no FBI investigation into the Novartis scandal involving Greek politicians.

Alexis Tsipras’ diplomatic adviser spok with Pyatt who clarified that during the meeting he never mentioned whether there are Greek politicians mentioned in the FBI’s investigation into the Swiss drugmaker, a government source said.

The same source said the U.S. ambassador could not possibly comment in detail on an investigation which is ongoing in the United States and Greece.
