PM’s press office accuses the media of distorting reality

The prime minister’s press office on Friday accused sections of the Greek media of “burying” the good news that emerged during Thursday’s visit by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, especially the media outfits that habitually ran “doom and gloom headlines” in the last three years and informed their readers “that the SYRIZA-ANEL government is leading the country to disaster”.

All the negative scenarios about the Greek economy were dismissed by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who had signalled a “clean exit” from the memoranda during his visit to Athens on Thursday, the prime minister’s press office said in a statement.

“As usual when reality is not to their liking, it is reality that pays the price in their headlines and news reports,” the announcement added, accusing the specific media of trying to bury the truth about Juncker’s visit and “convince us that day is night.”
