Police arrest a 47-year-old Iranian national for knife attack at the Iranian embassy

A 47-year-old Iranian was arrested by Greek police on Monday as suspect of the attempted murder of two Iranian embassy employees in Athens on Wednesday.

Police said the man had approached the embassy last week with intent to murder, and when the two guards came out to accost him he knifed them and fled.

The man was found in Keratsini, in the greater Piraeus area, and admitted to the attack as well as to two arson attempts at the embassy at other times.

His case file was submitted to an Athens prosecutor.
