Police arrest two Syrian nationals for human trafficking

Police arrested on Wednesday two Syrian nationals on suspicion of human trafficking, smuggling people into Greece from Turkey.

The two men, aged 17 and 38, were arrested in Afidnes and Sepolia, police said. They are seen as playing a key role in transporting the migrants into Greece, charging each of them 2,000 euros.

The gang would help migrants cross the Evros river, on Greece’s northern border with Turkey, and the onto Athens.
