Police on Wednesday announced the dismantling of a drug dealing ring operating in the greater Athens area, including the city centre. Seven individuals – five Albanian nationals and two Greeks – were arrested on Tuesday as suspected members of the ring and an eighth man, also Greek, was arrested on charges of drug possession.
In raids on the residences and other locations used by the gang, as well as a search of their vehicles, police found 2.104 kilos of cocaine, 48.5 grammes of cannabis, a pistol and two magazines, 41 cartridges and 55,810 euros cash.
The drugs and the other evidence, along with five vehicles and three motocycles were confiscated.
Police estimate that the criminal organisation’s profits amounted to at least 300,000 euros.
