Police on Monday announced the arrests of 11 suspected members of a gang dealing drugs in areas throughout Attica, during coordinated operations in Zografou, Keratea, Neos Kosmos, Paleo Faliro and Kato Patissia.
Those under arrest were aged between 29 and 63 years old, while the leader of the criminal outfit is believed to be among them. They include five Greeks, five Albanians and a Romanian woman.
The suspected leader is a 40-year-old Albanian man allegedly responsible for finding quantities of cocaine and giving orders to the other members. His second-in-command is believed to be a 38-year-old Greek while the others were involved in storing, hiding, cutting and selling the drugs.
During raids on residences, vehicles and other locations, police found and confiscated 1,521 grammes of cocaine, 5.7 kilos of cannabis, minor quantities of processed cannabis and 350 grammes of a substance used to cut drugs. They also found four cars, one gun, 75 shells and 28,855 euros, three gold coins, foreign currency and eight sets of precision scales.
Those arrested were led before an Athens public prosecutor.
