Police probing use of tear gas, injury outside notary’s office

The General Police Directorate of Attica ordered an investigation into the clashes between riot police and protesters outside the office of a notary on Wednesday where foreclosure auctions were taking place.

The probe was announced after riot police used tear gas against members of the Popular Unity party, sending two people to the hospital with respiratory problems, while one woman was injured.

According to police, four policemen were also injured. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and taking eye-witness accounts to establish what happened.
