PPC workers’ union GENOP calls off strike over sale of lignite units

The Public Power Corporation (PPC) workers’ union GENOP on Wednesday called off strike action planned for 22:00 on Wednesday night, after a bill selling off PPC lignite units was passed by the Greek parliament. The strike had been called in protest to the planned privatisations.

In announcement, GENOP said the government may have won the battle in parliament but “will lose the war in society,” while repeating that PPC workers and local communities “will not give up the keys to the mines and lignite units to investors.”
