President Anastasides: The Republic of Cyprus will remain at risk as long as the Cyprus issue in not solved

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasides stated to Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Sunday that “The Republic of Cyprus will remain at risk as long as the Cyprus issue in not solved”.

Commenting Cypriot-Turkish leader Mustafa Akinci statement that he has reservations on how much the Greek-Cypriots wish a bi-zonal and bi-communal federation and if they understand the specific condition, Anastasiades said “Of course they understand the federation and I want also the others to understand that some proposals are not in line with the federation and there are much more that should be taken into consideration”.

On his meeting with Mustafa Akinci on Sunday, Anastasiades said that they discussed nationality and legal residence issues as well as fundamental freedom and the voting right.

“I must say that convergence in most of issues is visible, however some matters must be clarified and have been sent to the mediators to study them further.
