Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Wednesday in a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai and Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura outlined Greece’s comparative assets.
Pavlopoulos referred to the history of Greece, its unparalleled beauty, the hospitality of its inhabitants, the security, and stressed that Greek tourism is not only a matter of numbers, but a form of dialogue between CULTURES and promotes security and peace.
Meanwhile, the President requested the assistance of the Secretary General of World Tourism Organization for the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece and called on him to join the Greek efforts.
On his part, Rifai praised the contribution of Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura to the promotion of Greek tourism, referred to the Greek history and the Greek hospitality and stressed that apart from its importance for the global economy, tourism also lifts the spirits.
He also argued that Greece has made great progress in tourism, against all adverse conditions, and added that this is due to the dedication and serious work of the government.
