President Sakellaropoulou briefed by FinMin Staikouras

The Greek economy has withstood strong shocks, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Tuesday, following a meeting with President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Tuesday.

At the Presidential Mansion Staikouras briefed her on developments in the economy, emphasising the lower-than-expected repercussions of the pandemic on its performance. He said that “based on the latest data, the Greek economy is persevering despite strong shocks.”

The Finance minister added that the government “is supporting households and businesses to limit the adverse economic and social repercussions of the unprecedented health crisis” and setting the conditions for a high-rate, sustainable, inclusive economy through the EU Recovery Fund, the soonest possible.
