President Sakellaropoulou receives South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker

President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou and South Korean National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-Seug on Tuesday reaffirmed the historically strong ties between Greece and South Korea, as these were shaped by Greece’s participation in the Korean War 71 years ago and the diplomatic relations maintained by the two countries over many years, during a meeting held on Tuesday at the presidential mansion in Athens.

Their discussion focused on ways to handle the pandemic and the opportunities that open up as the world emerges from the health crisis. They also referred to the prospects for cooperation in a number of areas, such as tourism, shipping, trade, construction and energy cooperation. Finally, there was an exchange of views on global and regional challenges, such as the divided Korean peninsula.
