President Sakellaropoulou stresses importance of solidarity and social cohesion

“In the critical times the country is experiencing, the nation’s interests, solidarity and preserving social cohesion are of paramount importance,” the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou said on Monday, after her meeting with a delegation of the opposition parties SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and MERA25, as well as a delegation of the Association of Prisoners and Exiles of the Resistance.

The President called on the political forces to show a spirit of conciliation, stressing that “it is everyone’s duty and the least debt owed to the memory of those that joined in the struggle of the Polytechnic.”

Regarding the ban on public gatherings, Sakellaropoulou pointed out that “the judicial authorities, before which the issue is pending, are responsible for judging the legality of this decision.”
