Pro-European Greek parties share EEP’s line on main issues, Pavlopoulos tells Weber

The Greek parties that have a European orientation, regardless of any particular differences they share the main objectives of the European People’s Party (EEP) on important issues, President Prokopis Pavlopoulos said on Monday, welcoming EEP President Manfred Weber at the presidential Mansion in Athens.

He also said the country’s European forces desire a strong Europe and are in favor of strengthening security, competitiveness, growth and employment, which are principles of the EU itself.

On his side, Weber thanked Pavlopoulos noting that from Brussels’ point of view, the European Parlament and the EEP always supported the positions of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who wanted to keep Europe and the Eurozone united.

He also added that this goal was achieved, as currently Europe is seeing more growth than the United States and said that there is a future for Europe, after many difficulties.

Weber also stressed the need to deepen the EU adding that Greece’s voice towards that end will be decisive.
