Procedures underway for return of Greek patrol that crossed Turkish border

A two-man Greek military patrol has allegedly strayed into Turkish territory where they ran into a Turkish patrol ‘due to adverse weather conditons,’ the Hellenic Army General Staff announced on Friday. The two Greek servicemen were on a routine patrol along the Greek-Turkish border in the forest of Kastanies on Thursday, the announcement said.

The General Staff announcement said ‘that relevant authorities are dealing with the incident and Greek authorities are in contact with Turkish authorities, while procedures for their repatriation to Greece are underway.”

The two Greek servicemen are in good health and are currently in Edirne in Turkey, waiting for the formal procedures for their return to Greece to be completed, said the announcement.
