Prosecutor orders investigation into attack ahead of Thessaloniki Pride Parade

A Thessaloniki prosecutor has called for an investigation into an incident on Saturday where two men were pushed into the sea along the waterfront in the northern city at the start of the 7th Thessaloniki Pride Parade.

The investigation will determine whether any crimes were committed, such as attempted homicide or attempted bodily harm, in combination with the law against racism.

On Saturday, a 36-year-old Italian national and a 45-year-old Greek reported that they were heading toward the street where the parade was due to start when they were attacked by a group of unknown individuals, who pushed them into the sea. The two men with were pulled out of the water with the help of passers-by unharmed.
