Protesting farmers end road blockade near FYROM border

Protesting farmers and livestock breeders from Kilkis ended on Wednesday a two-hour blockade of the Herso junction leading to the Doirani customs office, on Greece’s border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The protest was held in support of the 17-member committee of farmers from Western Macedonia meeting in Athens with government Vice-President Yiannis Dragasakis and officials from the ministries of finance, labour, energy and agricultural development, to discuss their demands.

“Our next moves will be decided at the new general meeting and after we are informed on the results of the meeting in Athens,” Kilkis farmer Giorgos Terzis told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
