Pyatt expresses concern over the deployment of Turkish naval forces to harass Cyprus’ gas exploration

US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt late on Monday expressed his concern over Turkey’s deployment of its naval forces to harass Cyprus in its gas exploration work.

During a meeting with Greek businesswomen working in the energy sector, Pyatt outlined the US positions on energy issues in the wider region of the eastern Mediterranean. In particular, he referred to US strategic plans that support the differentiation of energy resources in the European market, which would provide energy security.

The American ambassador also praised Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for his efforts position Greece as a factor of stability in energy security, and made special reference to the TAP and IBG pipelines, according to a US source attending the meeting.
