The refugee centre set up within the former Softex factory is among those that are to be temporarily evacuated on Sunday.
The evacuation, covering a roughly 2-kilometre radius, was decided as a safety precaution during an operation to dispose of a WWII bomb, found buried beneath a petrol station in Kordelio, Thessaloniki.
The evacuation of the centre will be carried out by the Migration Policy Minister with coaches that will arrive at the centre at 7:00 a.m. and transfer the residents to the centre of Thessaloniki, while the same buses will return them to the centre on Sunday evening.
Following a request made by the refugees and migrants in the centre, there will be a visit to the city’s Archaeological Museum, a ministry press release said.
