The package of economic measures for the coronavirus pandemic will be repeated in May, possibly in an extended manner, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Skai TV on Saturday.
He said the purpose was to repeat the “refundable advance”, which injects liquidity from the state budget to businesses employing from 1 to 500 staff. As of Thursday night, a total of 54,360 businesses had applied for the current help package.
Staikouras called on taxpayers whose income was not affected to keep up with timely payments. Data from the ministry show that a portion of taxpayers kept their late-March and early-April payment deadlines.
He alro reiterated that a new program in April will provide policies for specific sectors: tourism, energy, shipping, transport and raw materials.
