Retail commerce barometer unchanged in H1, survey says

Business conditions in the Greek retail commerce sector remained unchanged in the first half of 2018, with the barometer of the Institute of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises of the Confederation of Retail Commerce (ESEE) remaining unchanged at 50.1 points compared with the same period in 2017, but down 1.7 points compared with the fourth quarter of 2017.

The barometer showed that the turnover index grew 4.2 pct, investments in fixed capital rose 2.7 pct and the percentage of enterprises without arrears rose 4.2 pct. The barometer also showed that the the rest of the country grew more rapidly in comparison with Attica in the first half of 2018 (51.3 and 49.9 points, respectively), reversing a trend prevailing up to the fourth quarter of 2017 with Athens in the lead.
