Russian with over 2 mln euros cash arrested at Athens International Airport

A Russian national was arrested on Friday at Athens International Airport when the customs officers found on her possession 2,213,500 euros and 58,900 US dollars cash.

The Russian had arrived from Moscow with an Aeroflot flight.

The customs officers initially engaged 25 percent of the cash which is the penalty provided by the law. Money laundering authority will conduct an investigation and if the Russian does not prove that the money come from a legal source then all the money will be confiscated.
