In a modern European country, as Greece should be, the separation of judicial, executive and legislative powers are a fundamental principle for a democratic state governed by the rule of law, noted main opposition New Democracy shadow defence minister Vassilis Kikilias in an interview with Real FM on Thursday.
“It is something that the government overlooks or wants to ignore. They would like to rule differently, with freedom of movement and the ability to intervene in everything. This is unacceptable in a western democracy,” stated Kikilias.
Referring to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ visit to Mytilene, he said that the entire island had joined in protests, adding that prevailing conditions on Greek islands are tragic.
