SEPEE: Exports of Greek clothing/textiles up 6.7 pct in January – February

Exports of clothing/textiles – including cotton production – grew 6.7 pct in the first two months of 2018 to 251 million euros from 235 million in the corresponding period last year, the Hellenic Fashion Industry Association (SEPEE) said in an announcement released on Wednesday.

In the January-February period, the value of Greek exports of clothing totaled 113 million euros, up 14.6 pct compared with the same period last year, while exports of textiles rose 4.8 pct.

SEPEE said the positive trend in the first two months of 2018 followed a trend which prevailed in 2017, when exports of clothing grew 11.2 pct to 606 milloin euros, the best year since 2010.

In the announcement, SEPEE said that exports of clothing/textiles “could be even better if there was a will and plan to support the sector by the Greek state, as it happens in other European countries”.
