Ships to remain docked on May 1 for Labour Day strike

All ships will remain docked on Tuesday, May 1, due to the participation of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) in a 24-hour strike for the celebration of Labour’s Day.

“We are raising a voice of protest and demand the immediate resolution of the pension issue, the withdrawal of the reduced special crew compositions with the abolition of Law 4150/2013, the signing of collective agreements, the measures to tackle unemployment and the prompt and correct payment of due earnings to crews,” according to the announcement.

The Panhellenic Union of Tugs and Lifeguards, as well as dock workers, are also participating in the Labour Day strike.

The Greek Employers’ Federation (OMYLE), in a statement, called for the abolition of the memorandum provisions and their consequences and demanded measures to tackle unemployment, ensure the viability of the insurance system and provide decent pensions.
