Sky Express’ aircraft “Nissos Karpathos” carried out its first flight on the island of Karpathos, part of the airline’s new itinerary Athens – Karpathos – Kassos.
Mayor of Karpathos Ilias Lambros referred to the serious problems that the island was facing due to the lack of flights linking it with the Greek capital. “The new itinerary is linked with the island’s tourist development,” he said.
On her part, managing director of Sky Express Niki Karagoule-Karageorgou stated to Athens Macedonian News Agency: “We inaugurated our new aircraft with the symbolic but essential move of support the remote island of Karpathos and we will not stop here. Our airline flies to 25 Greek destinations and carries out over 200 flights per week. Our target is 500,000 passengers in 2017 which will help us contribute to the tourist development of the Greek islands by offering to our clients high quality services and competitive fares,” she said.
