‘Some progress’ made in meeting with institutions, says Labour ministry official

There was “some progress” in the meeting between government ministers and the mission chiefs of the institutions in Athens on Monday, a senior Labour ministry official said after the meeting.

The two sides discussed issues relating to fiscal measures, the advanced legislation of measures, social security and taxation, the official said, adding that these issues will be presented to the technical teams on Tuesday, in order to prepare a new meeting at a ministerial level at 15:00.

Asked if the institutions are asking for pension cuts worth 1 percent of the GDP, the same official said: “We didn’t agree on the percentage, but there was some progress,” adding that labour issues were not discussed.

Talks between Finance and Economy Ministers Euclid Tsakalotos and Dimitri Papadimitriou with the institutions are continuing on the out-of-court settlement plan for non-performing business loans.
