State arrears to private sector fell significantly in September

State arrears to the private sector plunged in September to 3.559 billion euros, from 3.909 billion in August, official figures showed on Tuesday. The General Accounting Office in an announcement said that this development was related with an ESM decision for the disbursement of a 800-million-euro sub-tranche to Greece after the country fulfilled a goal set to reduce its state arrears to the private sector.

The General Accounting Office said that pending tax returns fell by 1.183 billion euros in September to 931 million, form 2.114 billion a month earlier. Pension funds’ arrears fell to 2.051 billion euros in September from 2.302 billion in August.
