State budget primary surplus rose to 2.755 billion euros in January-June 2016

Central government net borrowing needs on a cash basis in Greece fell to 526 million euros in January-June 2016, down from 1.851 billion euros in the same period in 2015, the central bank announced on Friday.

The state budget primary surplus rose to 2.755 billion euros in the same period, from 1.3 billion euros in the first half of 2015.

During this period, ordinary budget revenue amounted to 20,690 million euros, compared to 19,113 million euros in the corresponding period of last year. Revenue of 43 million euros regarding Securities Markets Programme (SMP) income transfers from the Bank of Greece were excluded.

Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to 22,182 million euros, from 21,470 million euros in January-June 2015, the Bank of Greece announcement said.
