Stricter passport controls at EU countries are unpleasant but perfectly legal, Papadimoulis says

“The additional passport controls initiated by authorities in some EU member states are not a pleasant situation at all. However, it is provided by the Schengen Treaty,” European Parliament Vice President Dimitris Papadimoulis tweeted on Wednesday, following complaints that Greek nationals are subjected to stricter scrutiny when entering other EU countries.

“Those who allege that ‘Greece (is treated as being) outside the Schengen zone’ are spreading fake news. They are not harming the government, they are harming Greece,” he added.
